My scooterhistory

How it started

Late in the summer of 1961 I purchased a secondhand scooter brand Goggo. It was a machine with a JLO two-stroke engine. This scooter had a footswitch for the gearing. I did'nt have a driving-license for motors. So I excercised to pass the examination. In the early year 1962 I got my license. Now I was able to make nice rides with my girlfriend. However due to a serious damage caused by children while I was working, I was obliged to sell the scooter because it was too expensive to repair at that time..

Our honeymoon

The first stop on our honeymoon to the Ardennes in Belgium en Luxembourg was on the 24th of July the day after our marriage. The photo was taken near the old Moerdijkbridge. On the background you can see the block of the Dutch army (1940). Interesting to know is, that on the inside wall you can see painted models of airplanes belonging to the Royal Dutch Airforce. For this honeymoon I have rented a scooter Bella Zundapp. The scootermotor had a 2-stroke engine 200cm3.

Scooter NSU Prima

For a short period I also had a NSU prima.
With this scooter we made a holliday-trip in 1969
via Belgium to Paris. Then via Reims to Luxembourg. Unfortunately due to heavy rain we fell with the scooter in the neighbourhood of Ettelbruck. Next morning my wife could get a lift by a nice dutch couple to Holland due to the injuries and I drove with the scooter home. Late in the evening we embraced eachother after this experience.

After this period I only drove a Heinkelscooter even for my job. This means that during about 18 months I drove every day from
The Hague to a village called De Bilt near Utrecht and back.
